AFEDEMY, Academy on Age-friendly Environments in Europe

AFEdemy is a private limited company based in Gouda, the Netherlands. It was founded in May 2017 and since then AFEdemy has been successfully involved in European networks and projects. The reason behind the foundation of AFEdemy is to address the challenge of implementation for the many organisations embracing the WHO holistic concept of age-friendly cities and environments. Therefore, AFEdemy's mission is to build capacity of national, regional and local stakeholders in the field of smart healthy age-friendly environments. Main target groups for training and advice are older adults, public authorities, architects, health care institutions, and research and ICT development agencies. To achieve the company’s aim, AFEdemy offers the following services: stakeholders’ connection and networking, curriculum and MOOC development, trainings, coaching and research.

Hague University of Applied Sciences

The Hague University of Applied Sciences has almost 26,000 students studying in nearly 100 full-time and part-time programmes. It also has six Centres of Expertise. A centre of expertise consists of a number of research groups that conduct research around a specific theme. In the AFECO project, the research group Urban Ageing, which is part of the Centre of Expertise on Health Innovation, collaborates with the Centre of Expertise on Global and Inclusive Learning. The involved researchers bring substantial research and teaching experience on the topic of quality of life of older adults in the city as well as on sustainability issues, and well-developed qualitative and quantitative research skills to the table. The research group Urban Ageing also co-developed Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Questionnaire (AFCCQ).

I.S.R.A.A. is an Italian public senior care provider based in Treviso that provides services that address a wide range of possible needs by offering a set of different residential options to senior citiziens with or without dementia, both in home care or within its nursing homes. I.S.R.A.A. also provides 32 flats for autonomous seniors. I.S.R.A.A. has knowledge and experience in assisting seniors to remain independent as much as possible despite of their functional and cognitive limitations, by promoting positive feelings in an age-friendly environment, to improve the seniors’ self-efficacy and to raise their perception of quality of life.
