AFEDEMY, Academy on Age-friendly Environments in Europe

About AFEdemy

AFEdemy is a private limited company based in Gouda, the Netherlands. It was founded in May 2017 and since then AFEdemy has been successfully involved in European networks and projects. The reason behind the foundation of AFEdemy is to address the challenge of implementation for the many organisations embracing the WHO holistic concept of age-friendly cities and environments. Therefore, AFEdemy’s mission is to build capacity of national, regional and local stakeholders in the field of smart healthy age-friendly environments. Main target groups for training and advice are older adults, public authorities, architects, health care institutions, and research and ICT development agencies. To achieve the company’s aim, AFEdemy offers the following services: stakeholders’ connection and networking, curriculum and MOOC development, trainings, coaching and research.

Hague University of Applied Sciences

The Hague University of Applied Sciences has almost 26,000 students studying in nearly 100 full-time and part-time programmes. It also has six Centres of Expertise. A centre of expertise consists of a number of research groups that conduct research around a specific theme. In the AFECO project, the research group Urban Ageing, which is part of the Centre of Expertise on Health Innovation, collaborates with the Centre of Expertise on Global and Inclusive Learning. The involved researchers bring substantial research and teaching experience on the topic of quality of life of older adults in the city as well as on sustainability issues, and well-developed qualitative and quantitative research skills to the table. The research group Urban Ageing also co-developed Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Questionnaire (AFCCQ).

Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences
Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences (UPWr) is one of the best specialist universities in Poland. Also, UPWr established 16 Leading Research Teams which work on the development of their disciplines, initiate and conduct international research of crucial importance and obtain external funds for the University to carry out scientific studies. One of these Leading Research Teams is focused on Sustainable Cities and Regions domain. Besides, UPWr has experience in conducting teaching for older adults. Since 2009 the Open University of the Third Age operates at UPWr. The purpose of this unit is to develop and deepen the intellectual and psychophysical fitness and social activity of students, regardless of their education, professional status, and current employment.

With a clear vision of fostering societal growth and inclusiveness, SHINE promotes sharing of good practices, active networking between different stakeholders and countries and projects in areas deemed as essential to society, such as equality and inclusion, ethical behaviour and environmental responsibility. SHINE chairs the COST Action NET4Age-Friendly and is a Member of the Focus Group of the EU Pact for Skills for the Proximity and Social Economy ecosystem.

About I.S.R.A.A

I.S.R.A.A. is an Italian public senior care provider based in Treviso that provides services that address a wide range of possible needs by offering a set of different residential options to senior citiziens with or without dementia, both in home care or within its nursing homes. I.S.R.A.A. also provides 32 flats for autonomous seniors. I.S.R.A.A. has knowledge and experience in assisting seniors to remain independent as much as possible despite of their functional and cognitive limitations, by promoting positive feelings in an age-friendly environment, to improve the seniors’ self-efficacy and to raise their perception of quality of life.

About ISIS
ISIS Institut für Soziale Infrastruktur GmbH
is a non-profit institute for applied social research and social planning. Established in 1991, ISIS is specialised in practice-oriented social science analyses as well as providing consulting services, developing social structures and transferring knowledge. Our team members and their collective knowledge are our resources. They combine social science expertise and interdisciplinary competence.
ISIS is focusing on the issues of age, discrimination, digitalisation, health and participation. The leading idea is to strengthen democratic structures. For this purpose, ISIS has also been working for many years at the European level with various partners.

FRODIZO, Corporation for Succor and Care of Elderly and Disabled

FRODIZO is a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization for the provision of social care services to older adults and disabled people in order for them to retain their maximum level of autonomy and well-being. It aims to promote active ageing, independent living and social inclusion of these target groups.
Their personnel consist of professionals and scientists from different health and social care domains, including nurses, psychologists, social workers, gerontologists and physiotherapists. This corporation disposes of a very wide network of collaborating social care organizations in West Greece periphery as well as in National level of social and health care character.
